Kevin McMahon is still pursuing his Olympic dream.

McMahon, a graduate of Fremont High School, is competing this week at the U.S. Olympic Diving Trials in St. Peters, Mo.

The trials, which started Monday and will run through Sunday, feature more than 20 competitors in each of the four individual events: men's and women's 3-meter springboard and 10-meter platform.

Competition will also include three synchronized events: men's springboard, men's platform and women's platform.

McMahon, a California resident, tried out for the team in 1996 and 2000, but failed to qualify. He will compete today in the 3-meter springboard preliminaries. On Wednesday, McMahon and teammate Brian Early will vie for a berth in the synchronized springboard preliminaries.

In synchronized diving, two athletes dive on side-by-side boards while doing the same or complementary dives.

Other notable divers competing at the St. Peters Rec-Plex include: 2000 Olympian Troy Dumais; Justin Dumais, a two-time national springboard champion and Troy's younger brother; University of Tennessee athlete Jevon Tarantino; and Phil Jones, who finished 29th at the 2003 World Championships.

Two competitors qualify in each individual event and a team in each of the synchronized events.

About 50 American medalists are also gathering in St. Peters, a suburb of St. Louis, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of diving's debut in the Olympics.

The list of medalists scheduled to appear include Greg Louganis, a double gold medalist on the springboard and platform in 1984 and 1988; 1972 Munich gold medalist Micki King on the springboard; and 1948 and 1952 platform gold medalist Sammy Lee.
