A Fremont woman pleaded not guilty to drug charges Monday morning in Dodge County District Court.
Katie K. Thompson, 26, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Class IV felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction.
Thompson’s attorney, Jim Davis, said his client is still working on a plea agreement with the county attorney’s office.
Davis said Thompson likely will change her plea after those details are worked out.
District Court Judge John Samson set a pretrial hearing for April 9.
In an unrelated matter, Samson continued the case of Guillermo Pena-Perez until April 17 so an interpreter could be present.
Pena-Perez, 28, of Fremont, who also goes by two aliases, is charged with driving under the influence-fourth offense, two counts of driving with a 15-year suspended license, driving with a revoked license, two counts of false reporting, failure to appear and failing to stop or yield.
The DUI charge is a Class IV felony. The three driving charges are Class III felonies. False reporting is a Class I misdemeanor. Failure to appear is a Class I misdemeanor. Failure to yield or stop is an infraction.
Attorney Michael Wiseman said he has been able to talk with Pena-Perez without an interpreter, but his client told Samson that he does have trouble reading English and would like an interpreter. Samson noted that in a 2002 case, Pena-Perez did use an interpreter for his court appearances.
