Midland celebrates Alumni Days

Several events will take place on the Midland Lutheran College campus Friday through Sunday as the college celebrates Alumni Days.

Each year during Alumni Days, a family who has nourished and upheld the values and ideals upon which the college was founded is honored. This year, the Ronhovde family will be honored.

Two Outstanding Young Alumni awards also will be given this year. The honorees are Major Julie Nethecrot, ’93, and Greg Roberg, ’93.

Following is a schedule of events:

Friday

* 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. — Bookstore open.

* 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. — “Cairn,” a traveling art exhibit by Michael Strand, Kimmel Gallery, Musbach Art Center.

* Noon — Alumni Career Mentor luncheon, private dining rooms.

* 3 p.m. — Arboretum dedication of newly planted trees, Kimmel Theatre. Immediately following the dedication, refreshments will be served in the Kimmel Theatre lobby. Following refreshments, a walking tour of the arboretum will be hosted by Gary Carlson.

* 6 p.m. — With Purpose … Philanthropy Banquet, dining hall.

Saturday

* 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Bookstore open.

* 10 a.m. — Alumni music practice and breakfast, Clemmons Hall.

* 10:30 a.m. — Football spring game, Midland practice field, north of Hopkins. Free admission.

* 11:30 a.m. — Immanuel-Midland Nursing Alumni Luncheon. Pre-registration required.

* 1-5 p.m. — “Cairn,” a traveling art exhibit by Michael Strand, Kimmel Gallery, Musbach Art Center.

* 1-4 p.m. — Cardinal Key Carnival, campus green. All elementary-aged children are invited to the free carnival. The rain location is Anderson breezeway.

* 1 p.m. — Warrior baseball vs. Dana College, Moller Field. Free admission.

* 3 p.m. — Alumnae basketball games and contests followed by a pizza party, Midland Event Center.

* 5 p.m. — Reception honoring Alumni Awards Honorees, Career Mentors and Distinguished Family, second floor of Olson Student Center.

* 6 p.m. — Alumni Awards Banquet, dining hall. Cost is $12 per person (pay at the door).

Sunday

* 8 and 10:30 a.m. — Worship service at Sinai Lutheran Church, Rock of Christ Chapel, Eighth and Pebble streets.

* Noon to 5 p.m. — “Cairn,” a traveling art exhibit by Michael Strand, Kimmel Gallery, Musbach Art Center.

* 3 p.m. — MLC band concert and ice cream social, campus green. The rain location is Clemmons Hall. Admission is free.
