William Draeger Hedlund, 25, of Kihei, Hawaii died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Maui Memorial Medical Center in Maui, Hawaii.
He was born Nov. 17, 1982, in Lexington, Ky. to Kent and Dorothy Hedlund. He graduated from Ritenour High School in St. Louis with the class of 2001. He earned an associate of arts degree at Central Community College in Columbus. He married Rachel VanBuskirk of Fremont on Aug. 4, 2007. The couple moved to Maui where he attended nursing school and worked for Maui Dive Shop. He had discovered a new passion for diving, but was most passionate about worshipping with his trumpet. He played with several worship teams and spent one year traveling with Life Choices ministries.
Survivors include: his wife, Rachel of Fremont; his parents, Kent and Dorothy Hedlund of St. Louis; three brothers, Andy Hedlund, Phil Hedlund and Joel Hedlund, all of St. Louis; and grandparents, Vernon and Dorothy Draeger and Lola Hermann.
The memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Nazarene in Fremont. There is no visitation. Services were held June 28 in Maalaea, Hawaii and additional services are planned in St. Louis.
Memorials may be made to the family or to Church of the Nazarene in Fremont.
