The prairie home has a companion.
Interiors Joan designers decorated a second home for the 2007 Street of Dreams.
A Tuscan style companion built by Michael Homes Inc.
The future owner came to the designers with a style in mind.
But there are plenty of details in common between the two homes.
“They have an active lifestyle, with four kids,” said designer Kris Leitel, ASID. “We made sure it was durable for busy life.”
“We started with hard surfaces and paints,” Leitel said. “It’s the tile, warm tones, ironwork and ornate light fixtures.”
Warm tan colors with a taste of chocolate. Also there are coppers and browns with a little pickup of blue.
The large home has a main floor great room. A fireplace splits a lower level family room and theater. Hard to miss is a countertop in the lower level — poured cement with a specialty finish.
“It’s new to the area from California,” Leitel said.
A loft area for the children includes an entertainment center.
An eye-catcher is the kitchen’s saltwater aquarium.
In the kitchen, there is a center island, again with multi-levels. But this time, a galley seating area surrounds the island.
“It’s not typical. It’s meant to have multiple people in the kitchen, cooking and participating at the same time,” Leitel said.
Both homes designed by Interiors Joan are warm and suited to a busy family.
The Tuscan home is more ornate and embellished and the Morrissey home needed to be more streamlined, said the designers.
The Street of Dreams gives the designers an opportunity to showcase contrasting styles.
“We can show different things designers can do,” said Lindi Janulewicz, Interiors Joan marketing coordinator. “We’re very versatile.”
“It’s all about the client,” said Ellen Turnage, Allied Member ASID.
