Norman Paasch, 82, of West Point died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point.

Norman Julius Paasch was born Nov. 23, 1925, on the family farm near Scribner to William and Emma Haye Paasch. He grew up in Scribner, was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church on the County Line, and was a 1943 graduate of Scribner High School. He married Marilyn Hoegermeyer on Aug. 27, 1961, in Hooper. The couple farmed and raised their family north of Scribner, retiring to Snyder in 1999 and then West Point in 2007.

He had been an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church on the County Line, serving on various boards and singing in the church choir, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Scribner and currently St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point. He truly enjoyed the outdoors, his farming, fishing and hunting with his sons, and traveling. Norman will be remembered as a wonderful dancer, a doting husband, father and grandfather. His persistent optimism and good nature also will be missed.

Survivors include: his wife, Marilyn of West Point; a daughter, Carol (and husband, Gary) Hartman of Goodyear, Ariz.; two sons, Dale (and wife, Sharon) of Wisner and David (and wife, Karin) of West Point; grandchildren, Andrew and Dylan Hartman, Kendra Paasch, Zachary and Claire Paasch; and sister-in-law, Marcella Paasch of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dorothy Meyer and Arlene Wapelhorst; and brother, Wilbur Paasch.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point with the Rev. Richard Bringewatt officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point with family present from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be in Scribner Cemetery.
