Marvin Jedlicka, 73, of Schuyler died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at his home.
He was born Sept. 25, 1934, in Colfax County to Adolph and Vlasta (Novotny) Jedlicka. He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Carronade from 1955-57. He married Shirley Kracman on April 24, 1957, at Heun. They lived and farmed northwest of Schuyler until moving to Schuyler in 1995, where he worked as a clerk for Brichacek Auction company for more than 15 years.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Schuyler, the Knights of Columbus, Schuyler Eagle’s Club and McLeod Post 47 of the American Legion.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Jay (and wife, Lois) Jedlicka; a daughter, Jolene (and husband, Randy) Kassmeier; a brother, Gordon (and wife, Maxine) Jedlicka, all of Schuyler; six grandchildren and a great-grandson.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Schuyler with the Rev. Gerald Leise officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at Kracl Funeral Chapel in Schuyler, from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the church and from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. A rosary service for the Knights of Columbus and parish will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Schuyler Cemetery with military honors by Hespen-Mitchell Post 4836 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and McLeod Post 47 of the American Legion.
