The Fremont-Midland Entertainment Series board of directors recently launched its annual membership campaign. We have six exciting offerings of live, professional entertainment that is nearby and family-friendly in every way. We would like you to think of it as "Broadway Close to Home!"
There is a wide variety of entertainment offerings this year, with something for everyone. Our season will kick off with a performance on Sept. 22 - a dazzling program entitled "Stay Tuned." Five skilled singers and dancers will take us back to the golden days of television legends, with a musical journey through the ‘50s and ‘60s that will delight the entire audience.
The Graffe String Quartet is a Czech Republic-based ensemble with international acclaim. Their matinee performance on Oct. 26 will be in the wonderful surroundings of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Another October offering is a visual artist and virtuoso mime by the name of Michael Cooper. His one-man extravaganza combines hand-crafted masks, original stories, and outlandish stilt dancing, among other marvels.
Just when we all need a break from dreary mid-winter, January and February will provide two exciting offerings. The Post Comedy Theatre will be presented by Robert Post, a brilliant physical comedian with amazing character re-enactments who has delighted audiences everywhere, including on Broadway. The Midland Lutheran College Theater Department will present "Seussical: The Musical," based on the writings of the famous Dr. Seuss, set to music in delightful ways.
Our final performance of the season will be the Synergy Brass Quintet, a very exciting young ensemble from New England. They are acclaimed for their technical virtuosity, outstanding showmanship, and diverse programming.
All six events can be yours for an adult season ticket price of $45. On a per-show basis, that is an amazing value for live performances. Quality entertainment does not get any more affordable than that. Ticket prices at the Orpheum Theater, Holland Center or Lied Center are often more costly for a single event. Family memberships can be yours for $95 for the entire family, or $60 for a single-parent family.
We have a brand new Web site at www.fmesconcerts.org. Check out the site today. It is skillfully linked to recorded performances of each group included in this year’s FMES season. A membership form can be downloaded as well.
You may also call Jill at Midland Lutheran College at 941-6061 for more information.
Also, please be on the look-out for our season brochures at locations throughout Fremont.
We want to extend our sincere appreciation to all our sponsors for this year. Without the generous support of these major donors, our season would not be possible. The Fremont Tribune and Midland Lutheran College are our season sponsors. We also have ten corporate concert sponsors this year. They are First State Bank, Sid Dillon, Charlie and Mary Lou Diers, Rupert and Ruth Dunklau, American National Bank, Fremont National Bank, Victor Outdoor Advertising, Birchwood Manor, Platte Valley Bank and Don Peterson & Associates. Green’s Greenhouses and KHUB/KFMT also provide us with extremely generous support.
We hope you will be excited about renewing your membership or becoming a new member this year. See you in September.
