Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont will begin a yearlong celebration of its 125th anniversary on Sunday with special guests and a barbecue luncheon.
Christian recording artist Rachel Scott and Hurricane Katrina survivor the Rev. Jerome Terry will be part of a unified worship celebration at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
That will be followed by a free barbecue lunch at noon. The lunch will be "under the tent" on the church’s athletic field.
Scott also will perform a free concert at 4 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 1546 N. Luther Road.
Scott’s first CD release for Tent Creative Group - Resolution - is slated for Sept. 18. It will be the second CD for the Omaha singer, who has been married for 10 years and is the mother of three. She holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Nebraska.
Terry lost his church and home when Katrina ravaged the New Orleans area three years ago. He worked as a plumber, welder, instrumentation technician at a nuclear power plant, postmaster and computer technician before becoming a pastor. He will be the guest preacher during Sunday’s service.
