Carol Miller of Mead took top honors Friday at the Tecumseh Cross County Invitational.

Miller placed first with a time of 16:39.

Yutan’s Ally Roth was second in 17:12, improving her time on the course from last year by 1:13.

"Ally put in as many miles in the summer as any girl I’ve coached and I think she learned today that all that hard work will pay off," Yutan cross country coach Rod Henkel said.

Wahoo Neumann’s girls took fourth, paced by Chelsea Svara’s fourth-place finish (18:18).

Neumann’s boys were fifth. Ethan Haberman was the Cavaliers’ top placer in 10th (21:49).

Tyler Christiansen (20:08) and Jordan Zauha (20:18) led Yutan, finishing 20th and 22nd, respectively.

Jarrod Wagner (21:25) was 34th, Derek Rogers (21:49) was 40th and Justin Wagner (21:55) was 41st. The Chieftains were seventh as a team.

"We were disappointed with our overall placing with the boys," Henkel said. "It was good to see Tyler run pretty well and the Wagner twins looked strong, but we believe as a team we can compete at a higher level."
