Wake Up To ... FREMONT
Fremont, Nebraska is a hidden treasure located just thirty minutes from Omaha and one hour from Lincoln. With a population of 25,314, Fremont is just right for people who want to enjoy good neighbors, low crime rate and exceptional educational choices. Our retail sector boasts of a thriving downtown historic business district with a wide range of shopping choices that fill the needs of the most discriminating shopper. Known as the Eastern Nebraska Antique Capital, Fremont offers nine quality antique stores that specialize in just what you are looking for.
Our manufacturing business highlights range from Hormel Foods Corporation with 1,350 employees to JZW International, an import company, with one employee. The mix of our manufacturing companies include dozens of small manufacturers that keep our economy in balance and allow our city flexibility in attracting a wide range of business prospects. Two of our larger manufacturers, Natura Manufacturing and Southwark Metal Manufacturing Co., are the newest additions to our business park just northwest of town, adjacent to the Fremont Municipal Airport.
Fremont boasts a variety of recreational choices including the Sidner Ice Arena, the largest and finest ice rink in the region, along with our Fremont Family YMCA, the second largest in the nation, with a recently completed state-of-the-art wellness center. The Fremont Family Fun Pool is currently under construction and includes such features as water slides, wave pool and space for more than 1,000 swimmers. Fremont also has two spray grounds, a newly renovated sledding hill, skate park, traditional pool and nine municipal parks perfect for picnics and relaxation located throughout the city.
Fremont is the county seat of Dodge County and provides regional services for the area. The award winning Fremont Area Medical Center, located on 23rd Street, employs more than 800 health care professionals. Our educational choices include public and private elementary, middle and high schools. We also have three institutios of higher learning: La’ James International College of Hairstyling, Metropolitan Community College and Midland Lutheran College, a four-year liberal arts college right in the heart of Fremont.
Fremont has recently completed a new four-lane freeway system with three diamond interchanges traveling from east to west. We also have a four-lane highway coming from the north and another under construction from the south. The Highway 30 project is also being planned that will allow for highway traffic to Grand Island. The current 275 bypass and newly constructed Dodge Street corridor in Omaha allows you direct access to the Omaha metropolitan area in less than 30 minutes with no stop signs.
With the balance of retail and manufacturing and its quality of life features, Fremont is the premier community of the region. “Wake up to Fremont”—you’ll be glad you did.
